Sparkplug Socket -For 03'-08' KTM LC8 plugs
-For 09' + KTM LC8 plugs
Having a sparkplug socket on your bike during trips can save
you from a long walk. Why KTM does not supply one anymore
is beyond me. You can purchase one from them but it's $70,
Why so expensive....who knows? I ordered one in hopes it
would be the 3 piece set they use to supply the pre-06 bikes,
but no luck. It's a 1/2" drive socket that is not practical for trail
use.
Who wants to carry along a huge 1/2" wratchet????
The first one I made out of a 3/8" drive 5/8" deepwell socket
that I ground down to fit into the tight sparkplug bore. Having
this along on my 07 Mexico trip allowed me to get all the water
out of the cylinders, after an unexpected tip over in the river, so
I could continue on.
I used a small 1/4" wratchet with a 1/4" to 3/8" adaptor.
Now I use the parts from the OIL CHANGE KIT for the front
cylinder. Packs even smaller.
I have cleaned up the design so that you can utilize your stock
tools on the trail, yet still use a torque wrench to precisely install
them at your service interval in the shop.
Recently, I found that a stock Yamaha wrench could be
purchased to accomplish this. I purchased one to see if this
works better. I was not happy with it because while tightening
the plug it tends to become misaligned in the plug bore and rub
on the sides. This gave me an uncertain feel of how tight the
plug was and did not provide easy attachment to a torque
wrench. KTM plug bores are much deeper than this wrench was
designed for.
My socket is turned down to stay straight in the plug bore and
not cause any binding or stuck situations.

Planning ahead can make all the difference.
We now have 09'+ spark plug wrenches in stock for
the newer 14mm hex plugs!
-Best if used w/ CJD KTM OIL change kit.
We also stock plugs for all year bikes so you can pick
everything up in one place.
